Rabbi Michael Barclay

RABBI MICHAEL BARCLAY will officially become the Associate Rabbi when he joins the congregation of THE NEW SHUL OF THE CONEJO to celebrate the High Holy Days at Yerba Buena Elementary School in Agoura Hills. This year Rabbi Gershon Weissman will again lead the services. He will be assisted by Rabbi Barclay and Cantor Harris Shore of West L.A. with a choir of The New Shul members.
Rabbi Barclay is a graduate of the Academy of Jewish Religion. He is an author, college professor, and the Recipient of the 2010 Distinguished Humanitarian Award from the B’nai Zion Foundation. Rabbi Barclay has served as the spiritual leader of multiple Conservative Synagogues in the San Gabriel Valley, as well as, the Associate Rabbi of the Temple of The Arts in Beverly Hills. Rabbi Barclay founded EverySoulLA, an arts inspired service and outreach program for young Jewish professionals, and is currently working on a new book with Jewish Light Publishing, one of the premiere publishers of Judaica in the world, to be released in 2012.
Rabbi Barclay has been a Hillel Director on a small campus where his growing programs became the national model for small college campuses. His work has been published in the Jewish Forward. He is a regular columnist and Torah commentator for the Jewish Journal of Los Angeles.
Rabbi Michael Barclay is married and the father of twin boys, who constantly remind him” to live fully, ethically, and with joy”. We welcome Rabbi Barclay and his family.
